Since our founding in 1974, we’ve grown from a single tradesman into a full team of registered electricians, built on a reputation for quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.

Our Story

French Electrical was founded in 1974 by Richard French, who built the business from the ground up into a trusted, family-run electrical company serving the Auckland region.

Later, Richard’s son, Chris, joined the family trade in 1992 and became a partner in 1996. Together, they’ve trained more than thirty apprentices who have gone on to become qualified tradesmen and women, helping the business grow into what it is today. As a result, French Electrical continues to serve the Auckland community with decades of experience and the same commitment to quality workmanship.

What We Do

From our first job in 1974 to today, our capabilities as an Auckland electrical company have grown alongside the team. We now cover residential wiring and lighting, full commercial fit-outs and retail store maintenance, and industrial work including factory installations, machinery wiring and safety inspections.

Because our electricians train across all three areas, the same high standard of work carries through whether we’re adding a power point to a family home or wiring a new factory floor.

Emergencies don’t wait for business hours, so we keep capacity on hand for urgent call-outs, alongside our regular schedule of electrical safety inspections, testing and compliance certification work across Auckland.

Five Decades of Electrical Expertise

Over five decades, we’ve built our reputation one job at a time. As Master Electricians, our residential experience runs deep — we’ve wired everything from single-room renovations to full new builds across Auckland. In addition, on the commercial side, we’ve completed fit-outs for offices, retail stores and restaurants throughout the region.

Similarly, that experience extends to industrial work too, where we’ve handled complex projects for factories, warehouses and manufacturing facilities, alongside emergency repairs and ongoing inspection and testing work for properties across Auckland.

As a result, we keep up with the latest electrical regulations and standards as a matter of course, so every job we deliver is safe, compliant and built to last.
