How To Prepare for the Seasons?

We don’t need to consult the calendar to know what season is upon us. Auckland has got beautiful hot summer days and chilly, sometimes frosty, winter nights. Each one of those seasons is great in its way.
We made a small list of things you could consider to make every day more enjoyable.

Electrical work for the summer

While the long-awaited 2021 summer is well and truly underway, you should take a peek outside and ensure that everything is in working order.

Outdoor lighting or garden lighting brightens up those summer evenings when you finally get to sit outside and escape the heat from the day.

But it’s important to ensure that all outdoor lighting, wiring, and any outdoor sockets are in good condition. Exposed wires or poorly maintained lighting can cause falls or fires.

Our electricians are highly qualified and have a wealth of experience in dealing with outdoor lighting. Having a team with as much knowledge as ours means you or your family member’s summer can be well lit, and more importantly, safe!

Electrical work for the winter

Even though it feels far away, the best way to have a comfortable winter is to prepare ahead of time.

Electric blankets are one of the cosiest ways to stay warm in the winter, but poor wiring or maintenance can be detrimental.

They can pose a considerable risk, and may also inflict damage on your neighbors’ and their homes as well.

In 2020, there were six fires caused by electric blankets, two of them occurring in the winter months.

Here are some things to check for before using an electric blanket:

  • Check the cord, control switch, and plug
  • Look for any exposed wiring
  • Check for scorch marks
  • See if the blanket still feels hot even when turned off

If something feels off about your electric blanket or you would like a professional opinion, get in contact with us today, and we can advise you.

Do you need an inspection, maintenance, or repair work carried out at your home? Get in touch with us today for a no-fuss, no-strings-attached discussion on how we can best help you or your family members.
